About Us

Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy, Inc. has been operating in the Carroll County for more than 15 years (although we have changed locations and name). No matter where we were, we strive to give our members the best possible service.

Voted One Of Carroll County's Best Martial Arts Schools

In Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy, we strive to be the best. We believe that quality does not equal quantity. Our belief is that no matter how many students you have, you must run it as though you only have one. Attention to detail and knowing everyone of our students names (without writing them on their uniforms) is our trademark.

Ralf Rogall
Head Instructor
1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Ralf has been on staff at Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy since 2004. He brings to each class a sense of energy, humor, and a can-do attitude. He teaches each student as if they were his own child; with compassion, patience and always a kind word. He has a unique ability to build self esteem, self confidence and self worth in all of our students, especially the younger ones. Mr. Ralf has a teaching style all his own, but paired with the values and quality of instruction established by Master Bun, the combination is extraordinary.

Kelly Patten
Senior Instructor and Office Manager
2nd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Ms. Kelly has been teaching Tae Kwon Do since 2001 and is an accomplished competitor on a national level as well. She recognizes the importance of providing positive role models for children. She strives to help them become self-confident and to develop strong moral character. Through her warmth and encouragement, even the most timid students begin to radiate confidence and determination. As the office manager of the school, she is greatly responsible for fostering the strong, caring, family atmosphere Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy is so proud of, and so fortunate to have.

Jay Cambias
Senior Instructor
2nd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Jay has been with Master Bun as both a student and instructor for almost 2 decades, and is one of our most popular instructors. Our students always look forward to the opportunity to take class with him as he possesses not only the outstanding technique that comes with attaining the rank of 2nd degree black belt, but the mental qualities attributed to true martial artists as well. While all of our instructors work together to help each of our students on their way to earning their black belts, Mr. Jay guides them through the final preparations for their black belt testing. Before any of our students can test for their 1st Dan, they must spend a minimum of 6 months studying under Mr. Jay.

Zachary Ahmanson
Instructor
2nd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Zach earned both his 1st and 2nd degree black belts from Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy. As one of the younger instructors on staff, he is a role model for many of our students with whom they can closely identify. Mr. Zach possesses not only the technique, but the flash and speed that make Tae Kwon Do so exciting to watch. Students recognize in Mr. Zach that by hard work and dedication, they too can become accomplished martial artists.

Harry Swartz
Instructor
1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Harry received his 1st degree black belt in July of 2008. As a long-time student at Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy, he greatly enjoys his new role as an instructor. As a relatively new black belt recipient, he offers a unique perspective for our students as they continue on their journey to earning their own black belts.
